Women enters guilty plea in CL dancer attack

WOODSTOCK- The mother of a bride-to-be pleaded guilty Monday to attacking a male stripper last summer at a Crystal Lake hotel room bachelorette party.

Police and prosecutors said attendees of the bachelorette party became enraged when exotic dancer Gus Gamuranes showed up late and was not the man they hired for the party.

"He was late, and he was the wrong guy. He was covering for a buddy,” McHenry Country Assistant State’s Attorney Elizabeth Vonau said.

Crystal Lake Police initially charged bride Carrie L. McMahon, 22, of Loveland, Colo.; her mother, Jacqueline A. McMahon, 52, of Wheeling; and a bridesmaid, Kelly L. Meyer, 33,of McHenry, with misdemeanor battery for the July 13, 2002, incident.

“His clothes were torn. He had scratches and dizziness, potentiality from a head injury.” Vonau said.

Prosecutors dropped charges against the bride and bridesmaid after Jacqueline McMahon agreed to plead guilty to battery and pay for the dancer’s medical bills, which totaled $2,511.
“He went to the emergency room in an ambulance and had a CAT scan done,” Vonau said. “What was most important to Mr.Gamuranes was getting the restitution.”

McHenry Country Judge G. Martin Zopp sentenced Jacqueline McMahon to 30 days’ court supervision and ordered her to pay court costs of $135.

The conviction will be removed from her record if she satisfactorily completes her supervision. She could have been sentenced to up to one year in jail on the charge. Vonau said the bride now is a college student in Colorado and said that both the bride and her mother always maintained that Meyer was not involved in the attack.
